Afterwards, they attend a briefing about their mission, after which the main story begins. These factors make them qualified enough to set out in the harsh wasteland and do the mission they were given.Īt the beginning of the game, the Cadet wakes up in the barracks at the ATOM base, where they may undergo a training session (the game's tutorial). Just like every cadet of ATOM, the protagonist went through a standard training course, coupled with a special education. The Cadet however doesn't know the exact location of the bunker, only it's approximate location near the post - war village of Otradnoye. The agents know that General Morozov's expedition was sent to explore and study Bunker 317, a mysterious pre-war facility.
The Cadet was one of the chosen few to carry out this task. And recently one of these expeditions led by General Morozov lost contact with ATOM HQ.ĭue to the isolated nature of the organization, every member is considered to be a valuable asset, and as such the standard procedure in these scenarios is to send up to 3 ATOM agents to conduct an investigation.
It's why ATOM regularly sends search expeditions to the Wasteland. The main task of ATOM's organization, the protagonist is part of, is the collection, restoration and re-introduction of old and new technologies, with the main goal of returning to a pre- war standard of living.
